Using Abyssal Signal

Start with what
your PC is doing.

You don’t need to change everything. Get a baseline, pick a setting and see whether it helps.

Coming soon. This guide describes the current development build. Public downloads and sales aren’t open yet.

01

Check first

Open Check my PC and let it finish. Review the readings it can collect. An unavailable value means it wasn’t read; it isn’t a pass or a problem by itself.

The check doesn’t apply tweaks. Note your current workload, graphics settings and any problem you’re trying to improve before changing settings.

02

Keep the stages separate

The current startup sequence records results for its startup record, restore-point check, system-file integrity check and CPU configuration check. It reports failures and unavailable readings; the startup record isn’t a full backup.

The broader staging workflow is planned around three states: as found, clean baseline and tuned setup. The point is to separate an existing problem, a cleanup or repair, and a tuning change when you compare results.

That complete three-stage controller isn’t finished in the current native app. Individual change records and matching before/after frame captures are available now in the development build. They don’t automatically certify a clean PC or prove that a tweak helped.

03

Change one thing

  1. Open Optimize or Tweak library.
  2. Read the setting’s purpose, current value, risk and recovery details.
  3. Apply one change you understand, then read the result. A failed or unavailable check needs attention.
  4. Repeat the workload you measured before. If it gets worse, use the feature’s undo.

The library covers gaming and graphics, mouse and keyboard, network, power, storage, privacy, background services and Windows behavior. Browse the areas to see examples.

Keep a note of what you changed. Combining several changes makes it harder to tell which one helped or caused a problem.

Advanced doesn’t mean faster.

A tweak can help one setup and hurt another. Don’t treat a risk label or a successful write as a performance result.

04

Power and games

Power Forge creates a copy of your current power plan and previews plugged-in settings on the copy. Review those settings before applying. Battery settings stay as they are.

A performance-focused plan may increase heat, fan noise and power use. If its copy is still active, undo switches back to the recorded original plan. If you’ve selected another plan since then, that plan stays active. Undo removes only the app’s recorded copy.

Read the recovery result. If the original plan is missing or Windows can’t finish a step, the app reports what still needs attention.

Game Focus is enabled for a running process you select. It temporarily lowers eligible background browser, sync and Adobe helpers from Normal to Below Normal, while keeping visible app groups and other chosen priorities.

Foreground loss, game exit, Stop and normal app close attempt to restore recorded priorities. Unresolved records stay available for retry. After a forced close, review the recovery record on the next start. This behavior isn’t a measured FPS or input-latency gain.

05

Network settings have different jobs

The Tweak library includes per-adapter TCP values, TCP global settings and name-resolution policies. Check which adapter and Windows setting a change affects. TCP changes don’t automatically affect games that use UDP.

The advanced owner tools also compare DNS-over-HTTPS endpoints and can change NIC interrupt moderation when the adapter supports it. These commands aren’t a complete dashboard workflow yet. Full original DNS restoration is a release issue.

A quicker DNS lookup isn’t lower game-server ping. DNS resolves a name; it doesn’t shorten the network route to the game. A successful lookup also doesn’t prove encrypted DNS was used.

06

Look through the cleanup preview

Run a preview in Clean. Check the files in the preview and anything you’ve excluded before you confirm cleanup. A file’s location or size doesn’t prove you no longer need it.

Clean also provides read-only large-file and matching-content discovery in a local folder you choose, plus available-space readings. Finding a duplicate or large file doesn’t authorize deleting it.

Clean deletes the reviewed files permanently after you confirm it. Undo changes can’t restore them. Keep a separate backup for anything you care about before confirming cleanup.

07

Compare the same workload

  1. Warm up the game. Use the same scene, resolution, graphics settings and FPS cap for both runs.
  2. Open Frame benchmark, select the running application and describe the workload.
  3. Use Capture before. Change one setting, then use Capture after with that saved baseline.
  4. Read the comparison and repeat the test when the result is close or inconsistent.

The app records frame intervals and calculates comparison values from them. Its 1% low is the reciprocal of the 99th-percentile interval. These are frame presentation times; they don’t measure input latency or internet ping.

If you didn’t change a setting, the two captures are two baseline runs. They can show normal variation, but they don’t prove an optimization worked.

08

Read what undo can restore

Undo changes uses original values recorded by supported native features. It can’t restore something it didn’t capture. Review unresolved recovery messages before applying more changes.

Undo remains available when online activation can’t be completed. Keep the app’s recovery records; deleting them can remove the information needed to restore an earlier state.

DNS recovery has limits.

The current advanced DNS tool doesn’t capture every original automatic/static DNS source or shared global registration. Full original DNS restoration is still a release issue. A working name lookup also doesn’t prove that encrypted DNS was used.

09

External Assist

External Assist can open a tool or script you already have. Keep its supporting files together and only run a tool you trust. Because Abyssal Signal runs with administrator rights, the selected tool may inherit those rights.

Link the entry file and keep its supporting files together. Open it only when you choose. Tools keep running if you change pages or close Abyssal Signal; use their own controls to stop them.

Local receipts include the selected file’s hash and limited service startup-mode observations. Re-check can look for the recorded process, but an accepted launch isn’t proof that the tool finished its work.

Launch receipts are limited observations. They aren’t a full backup of the tool’s changes. Use the outside tool’s own undo, and read its license and instructions.

10

Activation and connection problems

The app checks its license through an online service and verifies the signed response. It rechecks during use and before applying new tuning changes.

If the service can’t be reached, follow the retry message. The app pauses new changes when it can’t verify the license. That is different from a confirmed invalid or expired license.

The activation request contains the license key, a device-derived hash and request verification data. The device hash is used to bind a license to a PC.
